You are limited to 2 bags of trash which weigh no more than 130 pounds total, per week. If you have more than the limit, you can purchase stickers for the additional trash at City Hall.

Do not include the following items in your trash: recyclable materials (see below), hazardous waste, yard waste (cut grass, leaves, weeds, tree limbs, etc.), dirt, rocks, lumber, ashes, plaster, iron, used oil, batteries, tires, appliances, furniture, and carpets. Yard waste can be taken to the city brush site on the north side of SE 6th Street between Sherman and Madison Streets; no man-made materials are accepted there. Some of the other items can be taken to the Adair County landfill; call 1-641-743-8343, for more information.

Recycling & Redemption

You can recycle newspapers, corrugated cardboard, mixed paper (catalogs, magazines, phone books, cereal and shoe boxes, junk mail, and white paper); steel, tin, and aluminum cans; clear glass; and plastic bags, milk jugs, and other plastics.
